After a few folks showed interest in this I have started working on updating and fixing some of the issues with the last release.

To start there is a new demo scene that uses the new input system. This offers better support for controllers and keyboard at the same time.

  •  item bar slots now selecting or highlighting correctly.
  • drag and dropping of items between inventory and item bar slots now works.
  • demo player controller works correctly
  • fixed a number of bugs in the logic.

All in, this version is a way better demo of what it can do. And the fixes that I just did have open the door for some features I was worried I would not be able to implement without starting basically from scratch.

Below are two options to download the Player Inventory System. The first is a unity package that will drop a folder (including the demo) in to you existing project. The second is the repo of my working folder. If you want to use this as a base for your project without having to set it up and edit the code to work with your project use the repo. Just remember the repo is updated when I finish working for the day so you may get a buggy(er) version then if you use the unity package.


Anyway I hope this new release will better demonstrate the Player Inventory System and how you can integrate it in to your game.
